NORTH KOREA THREATENS TO "WIPE OUT" THE US

This is not a joke. North Korea wants to "wipe out" The US.  Luckily, President Obama will not respond with witty cowboy comebacks like when our former  President George W. Bush said "Bring 'Em On".

George W. Bush also referred to North Korea as being part of an "axis of evil" with Iran and Iraq.

It was one of the stupidest sound bites in history. George Bush, in his State of the Union address on 29 January 2002, stigmatised North Korea, Iran and Iraq as "an axis of evil". But it is important to be clear about what was wrong with it. It was not wrong to identify those three states as threats to international security. All three last week confirmed that they still pose immensely difficult challenges to the rest of the world.[source]

President Bush also later admitted that he regretted saying "Bring It On" because the tough talk sent the wrong signal.

North Korea threatened on Wednesday to "wipe out" the United States in the event of a new war on the Korean Peninsula, as international observers watched for signs the regime would perform new missile tests in the coming days.

The warning came as a U.S. navy destroyer was tracking a North Korean ship suspected of attempting to transport illicit weapons to Burma. The pursuit is seen as the first test of sanctions passed by the UN Security Council as a response to Pyongyang's underground nuclear test in late May.

North Korea has said it would consider an interception to be a declaration of war. On Wednesday, it accused the U.S. of seeking to provoke another Korean War.

"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will … wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," the official Korean Central News Agency said.

The Korean War ended in a truce in 1953, not a peace treaty, leaving the peninsula in state of war.

In recent months, Pyongyang has sparked the fury of the international community by shunning six-party negotiations and resuming its nuclear program in defiance of the UN Security Council.

Meanwhile, reports emerged in South Korea that the North's leader, Kim Jong-il, appointed his son, Kim Jong-un, to head the country's spy agency to prepare him to inherit the leadership. [source]

Pakistan is in chaos after the assassination of fmr. Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto who was laid to rest on Friday. Thousands of mourners paid their respects with an outpouring of emotion over the loss of their beloved opposition leader.  The Pakistani governement says Al Qaida and the Taliban are responsible for her death. There is a controversial video posted on YouTube where Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto seems to eerily speak from the grave. In the clip, she names the people who she believes are responsible for her murder. She also tells the interviewer David Frost that Osama Bin Laden was killed and is dead. These statements are considered controversial because new recordings have just been leaked with Bin Laden calling for jihad in Iraq. [SOURCE]

PAKISTANI PRIME MINISTER BENAZIR BHUTTO ASSASSINATED IN SUICIDE BOMBER BLAST ATTACK

Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on Thursday in a suicide bomb blast attack after speaking to a campaign rally in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Bhutto's attacker shot her in the neck and chest before blowing himself up in the car next to her. She died later at the hospital and was 54 years old. Bhutto's supporters were so angered and saddened by their opposition leader's assassination that they have been attacking police and burning tires and election campaign posters in several cities. At the hospital where she died, some smashed glass and wailed, chanting slogans against President Pervez Musharraf. President Bush condemed the murder and vowed the attackers must be "brought to justice." [Source]
