The life of an NBA superstar on and off the court can be very interesting especially when you're Dwyane Wade. He's one of the top players in the game today and one one of the league's most recognizable young talents. We take a look at both his personal and professional life.
It's evident D-Wade is about much more than high-profile endorsement deals. He purchased a church in Chicago for his mother this past weekend. Dwyane Wade said, “My mother is not the kind of person who will come to me and ask me for this kind of favor. She’s so thankful for even the little things I’ve done for her, but it’s the dream of every man, every boy, to be able to give their mother everything they want. So that was my dream and this is her dream. To me, that makes this perfect.”
His mother, Jolinda Wade, has turned her life around after years of abusing drugs and alcohol to the become Pastor Jolinda Wade of the Temple of Praise Church. Dwyane and his sister Tragil were there at the dedication ceremony to show his support. His smile could light up a room, he said beaming, “This is tears of joy, tears of joy for my mother.”
Dwyane spoke before the service began saying, “I respect my mother so much, from the life that she used to live and to see her today in the life that she lives. I’m so proud of her. Everybody thinks I’m the miraculous story in the family. I think she is. I think what I’ve done means I’ve been very blessed, but she’s been more than blessed. She’s been anointed.”(source)
We're definitely looking forward to the Miami Heat guard, currently rehabilitating an injured knee, making a full recovery and this summer's Olympic team. Getting the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics has motivated him to get the gold this time around in Beijing. He truly focused on bringing home the gold medal for the USA in 2008.
