Here is Ne-Yo's new music video "Miss Independent" directed by Chris Robinson. We like this song and feel the "Boomerang" inspired video is one of Ne-Yo's best clips yet. Look for cameos from a bevy of beautiful women including Gabrielle Union, Lauren London and Keri Hilson. Trey Songz also makes an appearance with his new short hair cut after he trimmed the braids. Ne-Yo's album "Year of the Gentlemen" hits stores on September 16th.
Ne-Yo has the power of the Matrix because his song "Closer" just knocked Coldplay out of the number one spot on the UK charts. Congrats Ne-Yo! MTV joined the R&B singer in the studio for an advance listening of tracks from Ne-Yo's album "Year of the Gentleman." We liked what we heard and are excited for the new disc to drop. The tracks have gotten the seal of approval from Michael Jackson himself.
British rockers COLDPLAY have been ousted from the top of the U.K. singles chart by R+B singer NE-YO.
The band's latest release Viva La Vida topped the chart last week
(beg23Jun08) but the track has now been beaten into second place by
Ne-Yo's latest offering Closer.
American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has leapt up seven places to
number three with No Air featuring Chris Brown. And Brown himself is at
number four with Forever.
The top five is rounded out by Brown's rumoured girlfriend Rihanna, who is at five with Take A Bow.
In the album chart Coldplay have retained the top spot with Viva La
Vida, followed by Duffy's Rockferry at two and Neil Diamond's Home
Before Dark at three.
Fourth place is taken by Skydivin' by Darren Styles and Sigur Ros'
new album, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust is at five. source
We spotted this video at Necole Bitchie of R&B singer Ne-Yo with blond hair. The singer appeared on the Apollo Amateur night before he was famous. He was a member of a group from Las Vegas called "Envy". Ne-Yo had another name back then which sounded like "Ga Ga". His stage name Ne-Yo is from the Matrix movies.
Another person who looked familiar in the group was the infamous ex-American Idol contestant Corey Clark who claimed he had an affair with Idol judge Paula Abdul. Corey introduces himself to Steve Harvey as "Snow". Just looking at Ne-Yo with his blond hair had us laughing. He was trying so much to look like Sisqo but now that he is bald the extreme dye job explains what happened to his hair. It's ironic that Ne-Yo was trying to copy someone else's look because now he just pretends to be Michael Jackson. This live group performance is pretty hard to watch. The group is off key and uncoordinated. They are booed during their entire performance as they try to sing to the song "Players in the Hood". We were waiting for the late great Sandman Sims to blow his horn and tap dance them off the stage but he never appeared. Ne-Yo even tries to make the ladies swoon by dropping it like it's hot on the stage.
Here is the music video for the Ne-Yo single "Closer" Off of the album "Year Of The Gentlemen" that's dropping on June 24th. We like this video directed by Melina. We weren't really feeling Ne-Yo's last Hype William's directed music video for his song "Go On Girl". We like the song "Closer" and this video is better than some of Ne-Yo's other clips. Our only suggestion to Ne-Yo is that he comes up with his own image and doesn't focus on doing Michael Jackson's dance moves. Does Ne-Yo look better with or without the hat?
It's not hard for Ne-Yo to change up his style. All Ne-Yo needs to do is to hire a good choreographer.
He needs to figure out something else to hang on to instead of his hat or a microphone in his music videos. Ne-Yo's suit, dance moves and vintage microphone swag are similar to Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal music video. Click here to watch MJ as a Smooth Criminal and compare the clips.
Memphis Tennesse native Justin Timberlake was accused of being a Michael Jackson knock off who was manufactured as an "Elvis Presley like King of Pop". Singer Elvis Presley who is originally from Memphis has been hailed as the "Undisputed King of Rock and Roll". However, Elvis has also been accused of "stealing" black rhythm and blues, and re-recording songs by black blues performers who were not allowed to have their music played on the segregated radio stations across America.source JT was compared to Usher who he was also accused of copying when he first started his solo career after leaving the group NSYNC. Check out Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You Video where he does his interpretation of Usher and Michael Jackson. One can see the influence of other artists on Justin Timberlake's
wardrobe too. He rocks Usher's crocheted cap, Michael Jackson's hat, gloves and a
combination of both artists choreography. In Justin Timberlake's first solo music video he even used Usher's video girl, the beautiful Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Shakara, who appeared with Usher in his "U Remind Me" music video. source
Justin Timberlake was panned by critics after his 2002 debut solo performance at the MTV VMA's.
The performance many people were dying to see was *NSYNC'er Justin Timberlake's solo debut. Timberlake emerged from a giant boom-box ghetto blaster for his song Like I Love You from his upcoming solo CD, Justified.
The song began with an acoustic intro, plenty of electronic-style beats
and Justin Timberlake's soulful voice. Did anyone else get a Michael Jackson
vibe from this performance? The moves, the tipping of the hat and the
longer-than-usual sections with Justin singing so high you'd think his
leather pants were too tight! His voice sounded good and his dance
moves were great but I think the song had too many effects going on. source
Today Justin Timberlake is hailed as the new "King of Pop" and credited with bringing "Sexy Back." Watch Justin Timberlake's live Performance of Like I Love You with a giant boom box on stage at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. Usher did a video with the boom box for his "My Way" music video.
