Watch the debut of Lil Wayne's Prom Queen music video directed by Dave Meyers. Lil Weezy is a full fledged rock star. First Kanye sings with the vocoder and now Weezy. Look for a special cameo appearance by the rock band Korn. Lil Wayne has something to celebrate. His drug charges were dropped in court.
A judge in Atlanta has dismissed felony drug charges against rapper Lil Wayne.
The
Grammy-award winning rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter
Jr., was arrested in August 2006 at a hotel. Atlanta police said they
found unmarked bottles containing hydrocodone and a generic form of
Xanax, along with a small amount of marijuana.
On Tuesday, Fulton
County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson granted the rapper's
request to suppress on the basis of an illegal search. Carter's
attorney, William Head, said his client wasn't staying in the room
where the arrest was made.
Carter currently faces drug charges in Arizona, stemming from a January 2008 arrest, and a weapons charge from 2007 in New York. source
Katie Couric interviews rapper Lil Wayne in a pre-Grammy Awards special. Watch Katie giggling while she asks Lil Wayne if he kicked his pesky syrup addiction and whether he thinks he smokes too much weed. Did you ever think you would watch a journalist ask a hip hop star about smoking trees? Wayne's answer about the medicinal marijuana is too much.
Rapper Lil Wayne is NOT dead. The rapper was the victim of a fake BBC news website which launched a death hoax that Weezy was killed in a gang land drive by shooting. Thankfully Lil Wayne is alive and well with much to celebrate after Baby gave him a suitcase filled with a million dollars for his birthday. Enjoy the milli Weezy!
Rappers Lil' Wayne and Wiley today assured the public that they were
still very much alive, despite online hoaxes claiming the pair had both
met violent ends. In separate reports mocked up to look like a BBC News
page, it was first claimed that US rapper Lil' Wayne had been shot and killed
yesterday following a gang-related feud in New Orleans. The news was
quickly proved untrue, by virtue of Wayne still being alive.
Today,
UK MC Wiley found himself the recipient of a similar fake news report,
saying that he had been "stabbed to death" in Hackney, east London. He
posted a blog on his MySpace page under the unequivocal headline "I AM
NOT DEAD". The pranks have all the hallmarks of "cyber terrorists" Anonymous, last seen defacing American hip-hop sites with fascist symbols.
However,
the fake news stories appear to be the result of someone calling
himself Gilgamesh, who posted details of a new tool that allows users
to mock-up a BBC News article on the Kinetic North website. source
Lil Wayne finally showed up last night at the Power 105 IZOD center concert after two consecutive no shows. Lil Wayne had promised to collaborate with Jay-Z on stage for a version of "Mr. Carter" but the song never happened.
Lil Wayne just had his own Lil Wayne, his first son, Dwayne Carter III. Next week, he'll rap with the elder Mr. Carter: Wayne and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter will be the main attractions at Power 105.1's Powerhouse concert in New York. Weezy says fans can expect the two to perform "Mr. Carter" for the first time during the show.
"I know the 'Mr. Carter' thing is supposed to be a go," Weezy said Saturday, the day of the BET Hip-Hop Awards. "That's the whole reason I think I was doing [the concert]."
With Wayne and Jay already in the building, will Kanye West and T.I. pop in to finally perform a complete version of "Swagger Like Us"?
"I can't answer the 'Swagger Like Us' thing," Weezy insisted. source
Lil Wayne disappointed fans when he failed to perform at a concert in Boston. Jay-Z filled in for Weezy in Boston but the fans were still pretty angry. Poor Weezy needs to quit the coke and syrup. Hopefully it will help him get his stuff together because it is messing up Weezy's A game.
"[Wayne] was apparently unable or unwilling to get through TD Banknorth Garden security. So instead of performing his set as scheduled, he left." source
Tuesday was a great night at the Izod Center. But if you had seen Jay-Z and Lil Wayne
doing their more up-to-date material in concert before, the Power 105.1
Powerhouse concert wasn't a night you'll be talking about for years to
come.
The onstage pairing of Jay-Z and Lil Wayne
didn't happen as Weezy had promised it would, and fans missed the
opportunity to see Hov and the Birdman Jr. do "Swagger Like Us" and
"Mr. Carter" onstage together for the first time.
The hope for that collaboration began to fade when Wayne played "Mr.
Carter" as his second selection. He appeared onstage at about 8:50
p.m., over an hour before Jay's 10 p.m. start time. No way in the world
Hov was going out that early. No way. Sure enough, Wayne started the
song behind the mic stand. He grabbed the mic and came closer to the
crowd at the part that comes right before Jay's verse, but there was no
stir behind him, except from his live band. The New Orleans superstar
threw up the Roc-A-Fella sign, and after a bar with no Jay, Wayne
actually started rapping the the line in which the Brooklyn goliath
tells his "heir" to go further in the game than he did. And just like
that, the dream was over. No Jay and Wayne together.
That's not to say the two didn't make the Izod shake
individually. Wayne has fully crossed over into rock-star mode. He
hasn't looked like your average rapper in years, but Tuesday, it was
obvious he's fully evolved into hip-hop's rock-and-roll poster boy. He
even sported a flannel shirt and Chuck Taylors.
"Say, 'Yeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!' " he roared at the top
of "Got Money," a few songs into his set. It was his most energetic
play. He and his artist Mac Mayne ran back and forth across the stage,
waving their arms and telling the crowd to go "this-a-way" and
"that-a-way." But no one was going to leave their seats. Everyone was
standing fixated on Wayne.
After Wayne said the universally known lines about the roof
being on fire, he told his fans, "We don't need no water 'cause we got
the fireman." There was an explosion of audible adoration when the beat
for "Fireman" kicked in.
Later he spoke to the women. "Ladies, you wanna taste something
sweet?" This led to "Lollipop." During one of the more naughty parts of
the song, he lay flat on his back, legs bent, singing into the mic.
Then he went for the guitar. source
Congrats to Lil Wayne who welcomed a son. UPDATE VIDEO ADDED : Listen to Miss Info TV for some more info about the identity of Sarah B. There are reports of Weezy/Mrs. Carter tattoos, and proud pregnancy
photos on a now defunct myspace page. But what does the mother of the
newborn Tiger Woods of rap look like?
“The mother of Lil Wayne’s newborn son is
a University of Cincinnati student named Sara….Weezy’s Sara is 22 years
old and met him 3 years ago at a concert. She ended up going on the
rest of his tour with him and the two have been off and on ever since.” source
There are rumors that Lil Wayne may have not one but two more babies on the way with 3 different babies mamas. Huh? Wayne may become a dad again soon if the claims are true that Nivea may be pregnant. Karrine "Superhead" Steffans appears to be sporting a baby bump in a "sick day" video posted on her website which may belong to Lil Weezy too. This is a big year for the chart topper who sold a million copies of his album in the first week of release.
MediaTakeOut.coms
exclusive pics of the woman named Sarah who reportedly gave birth to
Lil Wayne's son in Cincinatti, Ohio yesterday. We've got a lot of info
on this chick ... but given that she's recovering from giving birth,
we're going to let her have some peace.
We can tell you, however, that despite reports elsewhere - she ain't no
college girl and ain't no nail technician either. For now we'll just
leave it at that.
MediaTakeOut.com snitches tell us that as of yesterday Nivea was STILL sporting a baby bump. And as for Karrine "Superhead" Steffans, she has a new video on her site Karrine.com which shows her sporting an OBVIOUS baby bump!! This dude could have two more little one on the way!! source
Lil Wayne welcomed a son, Dwayne Carter III, Wednesday in Ohio, his rep tells MTV News.
The baby was born at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Wayne, himself born Dwayne Carter Jr., also has a daughter, Reginae Carter, with ex-wife Antonia Johnson.
The platinum-selling rapper has not released the identity of Dwayne III's mom.
But 2008 continues to be a crazy momentous year for Wayne, the self-proclaimed Best Rapper Alive, whose highly anticipated Tha Carter III (how prescient!) went platinum in a month en route to becoming the best-selling album of the year. source
We are glad to report that rapper Lil Wayne's beautiful eight-year-old Reginae is alive and well despite the rumors of her tragic passing.
Lil’ Wayne has confirmed with AllHipHop.com that his daughter, Reginae Carter, was not killed in a car accident on Sunday night.
Unsubstantiated rumours began yesterday (August 11) that eight-year-old Reginae Carter had been killed in a traffic accident.
Lil' Wayne's statement reads:
“It has come to my attention that there are recent
reports circulating regarding my daughter. I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of you who are genuinely concerned about
Reginae and her safety.
Please allow me to dispel any rumors or speculations and
report that my daughter is alive, healthy and surrounded by family who
care and love her dearly. The rumors are completely false and
unfounded; neither Reginae nor any other member of my family has been
involved in any car accident.
My family and I truly appreciate the concern and support shown to us.”source
We're just kidding. Lil Wayne was shooting a music video for "Got Money" and was arrested in the land of make believe cinema. Wayne stars in the video with the beautiful Dollicia Bryan. Click here for more set photos.
Here is the new Lil Wayne music video for the second single from Tha Carter III. Congrats again to Weezy for selling a million in the first week.
We don't really see any structure with this hot mess of a music video but we're not going to knock Lil Wayne doing his thing. Watch Lil Wayne thank his fans for making Tha Carter III a success.
CONGRATS TO MY HOMIE WAYNE. I'M HAPPY 2 KNOW THIS GUY!!! BOW IN THE
PRESENCE OF A TRUE LIVING LEGEND IN HIP HOP... LIL WAYNE THE GOD!!! source
Rapper KANYE WEST has praised his hip-hop rival LIL WAYNE - branding the star a "living legend".
The Gold Digger hitmaker is please to be working in the music
industry alongside hip hop heavyweight Lil Wayne - and congratulates
the rapper for the phenomenal success of his latest LP That Carter III
- which has sold over a million copies in the U.S. in the first week of
its release.
Lil Wayne's album, the third in a trilogy, is the fastest selling LP in America since 50 Cent's 2005 release The Massacre.
And West, who worked as a producer on the hit record, is proud of
his peer's success - writing in his online blog that he his "pleased to
know this guy".
He says, "Bow in the presence of a true living legend in hip-hop. Lil Wayne the God." source
Rapper Lil Wayne sent a youtube Thank You message to his fans for buying his album Tha Carter III. The album topped one million dollar copies for first week sales. Congrats Weezy. We just noticed that poor Weezy is rambling in the video and doesn't look like he's kicked his syrup habit. Hopefully Lil Wayne will get some serious help for his drug addiction. Tha Carter III does have one controversy including a beef between the rapper and civil rights activist Al Sharpton who Lil Wayne refers to as "just another Don King on his track "Misunderstood." Watch the Daily Fix episode to learn more about the battle between the rapper and the reverend on the diss song "Misunderstood".
Al Sharpton & Lil Wayne Throw Insults At Each Other "Your A Just Another Don King"
*Rev. Al Sharpton has responded to a track
featured on Lil Wayne's new album "Tha Carter III" that calls him out
as a fraud and opportunist.
On the track
“Misunderstood,” Wayne spits: “You see, you are no MLK/ You are no
Jesse Jackson/ You are nobody to me/ You’re just another Don King with
a perm/ Just a little more political/ And that just means you a little
more un-human/ Than us humans/ And now let me be human by saying/ F**k
Al Sharpton and anyone like him.”
Sharpton's rep has responded to the verbal assault by dismissing Wayne as an MC who has nothing to offer.
“While some of the rappers
don’t like the fact that Rev. Sharpton has been leading marches against
the degradation of women in music, a Gallup poll released last week
revealed that Rev. Sharpton has a 50% approval rate among
African-Americans. So why dignify a response to one rap artist who
doesn’t even say anything substantive," the rep told Current TV's blog
The Daily Fix. source
Congrats to Lil Wayne! Wayne's album Tha Carter III sold 1 million copies in it's first week of release. Way to go Wayne. We just hope Weezy can clean up his act and kick his syrup addiction. Watch some videos from XXL about the Weezy first week album sales predictions and impersonations.
Lil Wayne Sales Prediction For 1st Week "I Say 100K"
Lil Wayne Fans, Haters, & Impersonaters Get At Weezy!
Lil Wayne now has official numbers to back up his bragging — the
rapper's new CD has sold a spectacular 1 million copies its first week. "Tha
Carter III" is easily the best selling first week of the year,
according to Nielsen SoundScan figures. Even Kanye West's "The
Graduation" didn't eclipse that mark in its first week last year
(though it was only about 50,000 copies short).
A prolific rapper
who's been ubiquitous on the mixtape scene and on other acts' records,
Lil Wayne is generally regarded as one of rap's most gifted performers
— but he's never had a multiplatinum album. His last two albums, "Tha
Carter" and "Tha Carter II," sold 1.1 million and 1.4 million copies,
respectively. "Tha Carter III" was anticipated as the CD that would
send the New Orleans rapper into superstardom.
"I've been saying
a million all along, and I've been telling people, and they've been
looking at me crazy," said Ron Williams, co-founder of Lil Wayne's
record label, Cash Money Records.
"He worked hard. He just came
with something different. He let his skills show on a lot of mixtapes.
He's featured on a lot of people's records," Williams said. "It just
made people anticipate his record more than ever." Expectations for "Tha Carter III" were high, and it delivered — selling
423,000 copies in its first day of release. It achieved blockbuster
numbers despite being heavily bootlegged and leaked on the Internet;
past leaks of material for the CD caused parent label Universal Motown
to delay its release several times. source
