In the current economic downturn record labels are dropping artists pretty quickly if they don't sell. The latest casualties are Kelly Rowland and Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles. UPDATE: SOLANGE'S MANAGER/ FATHER MATHEW KNOWLES RELEASED A STATEMENT THAT HIS DAUGHTER WAS NOT DROPPED.
Mathew Knowles founder of Music World Entertainment states that recent rumors of Solange Knowles being dropped are completely false. Knowles states, "Our joint venture with Music World and Interscope/Geffen/A&M is very much in placed for Solange. We are currently experiencing success at video outlets and radio with the current single T.O.N.Y co-written by Ceelo of Knarls Barkly and Solange. Ceelo and Kid Cudi also appear in the video". Knowles adds, "it's very disappointing in recent days the amount of false statements in the marketplace from Solange being drop, to me accused of being Kelly Rowland's father". [HH]
Last week, the internet was abuzz with the rumors that Kelly Rowland had been dropped by Columbia Records. The day after the story surfaced online, the record company CEO, Robert Stringer attempted to quell the rumors by releasing a formal statement.
"Kelly Rowland is one of our finest contemporary artists and a musical force to be reckoned with. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with Kelly and we will continue our working relationship with her under the Destiny's Child moniker. The decision for Kelly to seek other opportunities for her solo career was agreed upon mutually, and any reports to the contrary are false," Stringer offered.
Anyone with a remote knowledge of the music business understood that since Rowland was signed to Columbia Records via a production deal with Music World Entertainment, the company founded by Mathew Knowles, it was inevitable that her deal with Columbia Records was compromised once the 28-year-old singer ended her management agreement with Knowles back in January.
Now my sources tell me that the real reason the story about Rowland leaked the way it did last week was so that no one would realize that Geffen/Interscope Records has opted not to further their relationship with Knowles' daughter Solange Knowles. [BLACK VOICES]
Former Destiny's Child singer, Kelly Rowland, recently parted ways with her manager Mathew Knowles.
Kelly Rowland has been rumored to be seeking new management for a minute now, but it looks like it's finally official. A "highly placed source" in the Rowland camp has announced that the Destiny's Child singer has fired longtime manager (and former bandmate Beyonce's father) Mathew Knowles.
"Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance both as a member of Destiny's Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family," Rowland said in a statement.
Knowles has also released a statement confirming the split. "After a very positive meeting between Kelly Rowland and myself, we have amicably agreed to end our professional relationship. My company, Music World, will continue to manage Destiny's Child as a group. As an artist Kelly has incredible talent and I only wish her the best. We will always be family first and foremost, and as a dad I only have love for Kelly," he said.
In the past, Rowland was rumored to be leaving Knowles management in search of a more "unbiased manager." Simon Fuller, manager of The Spice Girls, Carrie Underwood and David and Victoria Beckham, was allegedly her first choice, but reports are circulating that the singer has decided to go with Chris Lighty and Violator Management. The rumors of Mathew Knowles being Kelly Rowland’s real father have once again resurfaced.

Oh boy! Here she goes again! Beyonce and her dad stood by and watched as Kelly Rowland lost her Miami condo, failed with both her albums and now gets dropped from Columbia Records. How f*cked up is that?
I understand that Matthew would be pissed that his own daughter(Kelly) would fire him as a manager, but to have her dropped from her label? Is it not enough that everytime Kelly attempted to drop a record Beyonce conveniently dropped one too? Or that each time there was an Award show where Beyonce was performing Kelly could only be in the audience cheering her on? Or how can we forget that other performance where Beyonce performed and tore it down and then introduced Kelly AFTER to sing some new single she had? The crowd went from WOW!!! to woah!!! That was so messy i felt like throwing on some plastic pants and doing some background moves myself just to hype up her crowd!LOL!(yall know i’m joking bout the plastic). But Matthew has been unfair to Kelly from the gate in regards to her career. I guess this is his way of winning favor with Tina Knowles for having this out of wedlock child so long ago? And even convincing Tina to allow his lovechild from another to move into the Knowles abode? And bringing this memory of infidelity into Golden Child Beyonce’s Girl Group? Next time just jerk off in the mirror Matthew because you’re ruining lives AND careers!
The saddest part of it all is that Kelly can actually hum better than Beyonce!
Do you know how badly they had to have brainwashed this girl to sit tight, wait her turn and just root for Beyonce? All to get kicked out of her house,(while B brags about how much property she owns) lose her fiance(while B secretly weds Joe Camel), and release records that only get outshadowed by Beyonce’s fully supported albums! C’mon Sasha, you know that sh*t aint right..and Karma will come and snap you right in that big ole Tina booty of yours if you don’t start looking out for others.(especially yo blood!)
