Foxy Brown was recently released from NY Rikers Island prison where she served eight months of her year-long sentence for probation violations.
Foxy Brown Is Released From Jail. Her First Appearance On The Streets
The 29 year old MC was given three years probation after an
attack on two Manhattan nail salon stylists in 2004 and jailed last
September when she was accused of hitting a woman with a mobile phone.
Calling from a white Bentley, Foxy, aka Inga Marchand, told us: "Oh man, it feels effin' incredible... I have a whole newfound respect for my freedom.”
Even though 76 days of her sentence was spent in solitary confinement, Foxy said that the hardest part of being in prison was overcoming perceptions about her, even her own:
"While I was incarcerated… It was just me. I had no nails on. It was
just literally me in the flesh. I guess that was the hardest part, just
even with Foxy trying to find Inga."
Brown said she was feeling positive and had learned from her
mistakes "I feel really good about my growth, and I feel change is the
essence of maturation," she said. "I feel that I went through an
enormous change, and I'm really excited." source
Brown was facing felony assault charges stemming from a 2007 incident where the rapper allegedly assaulted a Brooklyn neighbor, Arlene Raymond, with a Blackberry but the prosecution threw out the assault charges following Foxy's guilty plea. Brown was sentenced to time served and a letter of apology was submitted.
It looks as though the rapper will finally be putting her legal woes behind her. Brown's lawyer, Laura Dilimetin said, "There was no penalty and we consider it a victorious day today, and we're moving forward so she can focus on her career, family and fans. She feels great. She's really happy and excited to move forward. We're very pleased with this outcome." (source)
Rapper Foxy Brown is getting out of jail. After Foxy is released she will be working on her album and is rumored to be negotiating a television reality show.
After serving eight months at New York's Rikers Island, rapper Foxy Brown will be released from jail April 18, according to her manager.
"They had her on continuous lockdown just because she is a celebrity. They were trying to break her spirit," Chaz Williams said.
Williams revealed that Brown, born Inga Marchand, is in talks with a couple of television networks for a potential documentary and reality show on her life.
Upon her release, Brown will also prepare for the release of her oft-delayed album, "Brooklyn's Don Diva," now due May 13.
"She's going to get on top of her career again. She's ready to hit the ground running and do anything she needs to do to get her career back on point," Williams said. source
Foxy Brown will not be permitted to leave jail early and head to California to seek treatment for her hearing from a specialist on the West coast.
In a four-page letter to Judge Jackson, Foxy wrote:
"I am terrified of not hearing a fire alarm go off, or being locked in
a cell, and someone not being kind enough to let me out, since not
everyone understands the severity of my condition."
Judge Melissa Jackson denied Foxy's request. She will have to receive the treatment she needs in New York. [SOURCE]
Rapper Foxy Brown returned to court in New York on Thursday to determine if she needs medical treatment for an ear condition. She is afraid she might lose her hearing completely.
Brown -- real name Inga Marchand -- is currently serving a year behind bars for violating her probation after a string of altercations.
She is not due for release from New York's Riker's Island prison until September, but wrote to Judge Melissa Jackson on Tuesday, claiming she is in danger of losing her hearing if she is not treated by a specialist in California.
Brown was called before Supreme Court Judge Jackson, and ordered to be examined by a doctor from New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to determine the severity of her condition.
She will discover if her plea has been granted on January 31. [SOURCE]
