We just came back from Sundance and Slamdance! Here is our buzz report.
1. Black Snake Moan is sure to get everyone talkin'. Samuel Jackson tries to preach a blonde Christina Ricci away from sin. Justin Timberlake plays her nervous boyfriend in Craig Brewer's follow-up to "Hustle & Flow".
2. We really loved Jeffrey Blitz's "Rocket Science". The film earned him a well deserved directing prize at Sundance. This movie about a boy with a stutter who joins the debate team for the love of a girl has the potential to be a breakout hit.
3. John August's "The Nines" will have people talking after leaving the theater like they did after Christopher Nolan's "Memento".
4. He penned indie hits like " Orange Country", "Chuck & Buck" and "The Good Girl". Now writer Mike White makes his directing debut with "Year of the Dog". This quirky heartfelt movie stars Molly Shannon who portrays a receptionist who loves her dog more than human beings.
5. Michael Douglas portrays a dysfunctional father to "Thirteen's" Evan Rachel Wood in "The King of California". Director Mike Cahill and the producers of " Election & "Sideways" bring the zany story of buried treasure and Conquistators into modern times. This film was a treat and shows Douglas in a role audiences haven't seen him in before.
We promise to give you more updates so stay tuned.
