We love films so much that we have decided to showcase documentaries that you might have missed or that never made it on your radar. Snagfilms has a powerful documentary with Alicia Keys working with her Keep A Child Alive Charity in the Fight Against Aids in Africa. Watch Alicia Keys in Africa Journey to the Motherland.
We believe that Alicia Keys wants to work with Spike Lee so she can become the next Halle Berry. Halle Berry became a big star after her role as a crackhead in Jungle Fever. Alicia Keys attended the 2008 Michael Strahan/Dreier LLP Charity
Golf Tournament Pre-Party and Auction Benefiting Children's Rights
& Keep A Child Alive with director/producer Spike Lee. Alicia has been paying homage to all things Spike. The Alicia Keys Teenage Love affair music video was a tribute to Spike Lee's college musical "School Daze".
The Story of Love and Hate
The singer and actress also wore the "Love/ Hate" rings worn by the character Radio Raheem from Spike Lee's classic film "Do The Right Thing." We think Alicia Keys would shine in a Spike Lee joint. She showed she had acting chops in the Nanny Diaries and is rumored to be starring in a Lena Horne biopic. LeToya Luckett and Busta Rhymes also attended the charity event.
Alicia Keys looked beautiful last night at the red carpet premiere screening of the film "We Are Together" at the DGA theater. Alicia Keys was all smiles at the event but now there is a buzz on the internet that she was having an affair with music producer Swizz Beatz. In an interview with Hip Hop Weekly she says she is not a "woman scorned" but she sure sounds like one.
Swizz Beatz's ex-wife Mashonda is accusing Alicia Keys of back stabbing and stealing her husband.
If it is true then it sounds like a power move for Alicia Keys to hook up with one of the Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings Swizz Beatz who is now on the market after Mashonda divorced him and made him single. Mashonda was recently featured in an Alter Ego portrait by celebrity photographer Derek Blanks. Mashonda's photo shows how she is dealing with her breakup from Swizz Beatz and is "doing herself".
Swizz Beatz - Money in The Bank
Since her arrival on the public scene in 2001, singer/songwriter Alicia Keys has managed to achieve superstar status while maintaining a relatively clean image. Recently, however, rumors have begun to circulate, implicating the Grammy winner in an affair that may have caused the demies of a 4-year marriage.
R&B singer Mashonda, the wife of music producer Swizz Beatz, had this to say about Keys:
“[Alicia Keys] is her own woman and she has made her own choices. I don't have a problem with her. I will say this though, I am not a scorned woman. I have a responsibility to raise [my son], he's my number one priority and everyday I strive more for him and of course my music.”
Mashonda and Swizz - born Kasseem Dean - were married in 2004 and news of their separation surfaced in April of this year. Despite a likely divorce, the two reportedly maintain an amicable relationship and are both active in the life of their one-year-old son, Kasseem Jr. source
R&B superstar Alicia Keys has landed a $25 million endorsement deal to become the new spokesperson of Vitamin Water. This is a great look! We feel the Grammy-Award winning singer/songwriter and the Glaceau beverage company make a good match. The official announcement of the deal will be made next week.
Coca Cola company bought out Glaceau last year for a cool $4.1 billion and rapper/mogul 50 Cent who owned 10% of the business netted $400 million in the deal when he sold his 10% share. (source)
Here's the new music video for Alicia Keys called "Teenage Love Affair" from her album "As I Am." The music video directed by Chris Robinson is inspired by Spike Lee's classic film School Daze.
Grammy Award winning singer Alicia Keys is on the cover of the May/June issue of Blender Magazine. Alicia talks about her theories behind "gangsta rap" and how it was a part of a "ploy to convince black people to kill each other." Alicia also speaks about looking forward to making more socially conscious music. The NY Daily News and many other media outlets labeled Alicia Keys a "conspiracy theorist" after her comments in the magazine were made public. Alicia Keys explained that her comments were taken out of context on the Ryan Seacrest On Air radio show on 102.7 KISS FM. Listen to the radio interview below.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. ‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist."
Keys, 27, said she’s read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47
pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing ’em
dead," according to an interview in the magazine’s May issue, on
newsstands Tuesday.
Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."
Keys’
AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as
telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn’t sound like Alicia."
Keys’ publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment.
Though
she’s known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she wants to
write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black
Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it’d be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself," she said. source
