Watch Blagojevich pull a "Tony Soprano" at his press conference when he tells the Feds to bring it on after his arrest on corruption charges for attempting to sell Barack Obama's empty senate seat.
Gov. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois broke his public silence Friday, denying any criminal wrongdoing and vowing to fight what he called "false accusations and a political lynch mob." "I'm here to tell you right off the bat that I am not guilty of any criminal wrongdoing," said Blagojevich, a two-term Democrat, at his downtown office. "I intend to stay on the job and I will fight this thing every step of the way. I will fight. I will fight. I will fight until I take my last breath. I have done nothing wrong." He bounded out of the room after the three-minute speech without taking questions and without addressing the specific accusations levied against him last week in a federal criminal complaint or in an impeachment inquiry by lawmakers in Springfield. Federal authorities accused him of trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Obama, withholding funds from a children's hospital whose executive would not contribute to him, and attempting to have a newspaper writer fired in exchange for state help in the sale of a baseball park. Prosecutors built their case on Blagojevich's wiretapped conversations. In his defense, Blagojevich, 52, said only that he had "the truth" on his side. He described himself as lonely, thanked supporters for their comfort and prayers, and quoted from memory the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling about the nobility of persevering through tough times. The speech by Blagojevich increases the chances of a lengthy power struggle with a state Legislature that seems intent on removing him from office before winter is over and long before Blagojevich faces a federal jury. How and when Obama's seat will be filled remains unresolved. source
Is this any different than the third-world countries politicians?
