We attended the Digg meetup and live Diggnation episode taping during NY Internet Week in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The crowd was great and we had alot of fun. Diggnation hosts Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht were greeted in the Big Apple like rock stars. Hundreds of fans stood in a long line that went around the corner just for a chance to meet them. Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht were cool and everybody loved them.
We're fans of Diggnation too and had to get photos. Check out the pics of Binside TV host Shomari Harris with Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose. FYI Diggnation fans Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht drink real beer on camera during their shows.
Revision 3 shows Diggnation and The Totally Rad Show both won People's Voice Webby Awards in the Technology& Variety Online Film/ Video category. Congrats guys! Thanks to Walt Ribeiro for sending the Kevin Rose pic. Stay tuned to Binside TV for our special episode featuring interviews with Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht and Digg Ceo Jay Adelson at the Live Diggnation event. Shout out to Kevin, Alex and Jay thanks again for having us. Visit the Diggnation website to watch the show and for the latest updates. The stars of the Internet came out on Monday for the 12th Annual Webby Awards, which honors achievement in online film and video projects.
Blogs editor Brian Heater and I hit the red carpet to schmooze with the likes of "Chocolate Rain" star Tay Zonday, "Obama girl" Amber Lee Ettinger, French director Michel Gondry, and actor/director David Wain.
Zonday was recently parodied on an episode of "South Park" that touched on the idea of Internet stars not actually being able to make any money. Though Zonday said the mention was "charming" and "flattering in a 'South Park' way," he disputed the idea that he would not be able to benefit financially from his YouTube stardom.
"I was a disgruntled PhD student about a year ago, and I think this caused me to get bored with that and try my hand to make my living as an artist," he said. "And so far it hasn't been that bad."
In grad school, Zonday was researching the relationship between performance and social change, but figured "why study history when you can make it?" he said. source
