Halle Berry has inked a deal with Coty, Inc to develop and market a new signature fragrance. This is a good look for the Academy Award-winning actress.
So, here's the deal. Berry will be involved in the development process and will appear in the ad campaign for the new scent when it launches worldwide in spring 2009. The people over at Coty feel that Halle's star-power has mass appeal. Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for Coty Beauty, Coty Inc.'s mass division, told WWD at the Personal Care Products Council's annual meeting in Boca Raton, Fla.
"Halle is an iconic actress and symbolizes beauty to many generations," said Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty, Inc. "She adds another dimension to the celebrity fragrance market. Halle has always been a little more mysterious, not quite as open with her personal life as some other stars. Her fragrances will allow her to present another facet of her personality to her fans."
The Coty, Inc. portfolio boasts a slew of stars. Celebs that the beauty giant has teamed up with include Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss, Kimora Lee Simmons, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria and David Beckham.
While the exact financial terms of Halle Berry's deal are unknown, we're pretty sure that the beautiful, first-time mom-to-be will see a big payday. According to industry sources, endorsement deals generally range anywhere from $3 million to $5 million up front with roughly a 5% royalty rate. (source)
