KANYE WEST 808s & HEARTBREAK ALBUM REVIEW ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 24TH | KANYE WEST HEARTLESS MUSIC VIDEO
Kanye West is back with his highly anticipated 4th studio album "808s & Heartbreak." On it, he cranks out dark and dreary pop-like-ballads, with the aid of the pitch correcting Antares Auto-Tune effect (a.k.a. the vocorder) and the Roland TR-808 classic drum machine, in a way that brings something totally new to the game.
Ye's latest effort is the result of musical genius venturing outside of the box and becoming somewhat unpredictable. The 10-time Grammy award winning artist/producer takes his music into a new creative direction and boldly experiments with a new sound. While it proves to be a great body of work, it's very different from his previous school trilogy classics ("The College Dropout," "Late Registration"and "Graduation.")
It's important to keep in mind that this album comes in the wake of Kanye dealing with the devastating loss of his mother, Dr. Donda West as well as the break-up with his ex-fiance, Alexis Phifer. That being said, having endured such a tumultuous year, he understandably has a lot to get out of his system.
"808's & Heartbreak" -which is sort of emo meets electronica- features the smash hit singles "Love Lockdown" with its heart-pounding, killer tribal-drums and the ice-cold "Heartless." These tracks are two of our faves and have been in heavy rotation on the airwaves. What we love about this album is that it expands into so many musical directions and has raw emotion at its core.
Watch Kanye's rotoscoped Heartless music video directed by Hype Williams. Kanye posted a comment about the creation of the video on his blog. I DIDN'T LEAK THIS BUT AT LEAST HERE'S A CLEAR VERSION!

"808's & Heartbreak" is crazy and futuristic! KanYeezy put in some major work on this album sticking to one central theme and soundscape. There aren't many guest appearances other than Young Jeezy ("Amazing"), Kid Cudi ("Welcome To Heartbreak"), Mr. Hudson ("Paranoid") and Lil Wayne ("See You In My Nightmares"). As far as production credits goes, the beats are on point and Kanye takes full credit but gets a 'lil co-production done by his Chi-Town homie No I.D. ("Heartless" & "LoveLockdown.")
Kanye has left his previous work behind and changed it up. If you've been a Kanye West fan from jump, you may not know what to make of this album. You might be thinkin', 'I don't feel like hearing Ye singin' for a whole flippin' album,' and may find yourself on the fence about the new approach he has chosen to take, but trust us on this one, it's different but you're gonna love it!
Although he does a lot more singin' than rappin', we see it as Ye making moves to the next level. Whether or not you love it or hate it depends on your willingness to keep an open mind. We believe that his fans will embrace his pain and connect with him in a way they haven't before as he bares his soul.
Stop by Kanye's MySpace page and give it a listen. You can add his 4th album, "808's & Heartbreak," to your collection when it officially drops on Monday, November 24th.
