McCain Calls Obama "That One"
Watch 2nd Presidential Debate Full Video
Barack Obama and John McCain had their second Presidential Debate in a town hall setting. John McCain chose the town hall format and said "my friends" 21 times during the debate. Watch the full debate video and a "my friends" mashup and you'll see that McCain has an annoying expression to compete with Sarah Palin's wink and overuse of the word "maverick".
John McCain did not level obvious personal attacks against his opponent, however, many noted a low point in the debate when John McCain referred to Barack Obama as "that one." Many viewers in post debate discussions said that John McCain's comment was considered childish and disrespectful towards Senator Barack Obama.
John McCain was criticized for his unfriendly demeanor towards Barack Obama during the first presidential debate. Film critic Roger Ebert wrote an open letter to Senator John McCain called "Guess Who is Not Coming to Dinner." Read an excerpt from the letter below.
I do not like you, John McCain. My feeling has nothing to do with issues. It has to do with common courtesy. During the debate, you refused to look Barack Obama in the eye. Indeed, you refused to look at him at all. Even when the two of you shook hands at the start, you used your eyes only to locate his hand, and then gazed past him as you shook it.
Obama is my guy. If you are rude to him, you are rude to me. If you came to dinner at my house and refused to look at or speak with one of my guests, that would be bad manners and I would be offended. Same thing if I went to your house. During the debate, you were America's guest.
What was your problem? Do you hold this man in such contempt that you cannot bear to gaze upon him? Will you not even speak to him directly?
Do you think he doesn't have the right to be running for President?
Were you angry because after you said you wouldn't attend the debate, he said a President should be able to concern himself with two things at the same time? He was right. The proof is, you were there. Were you angry with him because he called your bluff?During the debate, Jim Lehrer repeatedly called upon both candidates to speak directly to each other. Obama looked at you. He addressed you as "John," which as a fellow senator is his privilege. His body language was open. You stared straight ahead, or at Lehrer, or into space. Your jaw was clinched. You had a tight little smile, or a grimace, or a little shake of your head. source
That is essentially that conclusion that most debate watchers came to after the second one-on-one meeting between the presidential candidates on Tuesday night. Many saw the moment as pivotal for Senator John McCain, the Republican nominee, who now appears to face a steeper climb to the electoral vote threshold needed to win the White House.
The Times’s Adam Nagourney found the debate to be “largely absent of dramatic confrontations or the personal exchanges that dominated the campaign over the past several days”:
Mr. McCain chose not to use the evening — the second of three scheduled debates — to attack Mr. Obama’s background or character. But in a moment that caught the attention of people in both parties, he appeared agitated in criticizing Mr. Obama for a Senate vote he cast, referring to his opponent only as “that one.”
Mr. Obama placed the blame for the financial crisis on deregulation and the lack of fiscal discipline under President Bush, whom he repeatedly linked to Mr. McCain. Mr. McCain, at every opportunity, presented his opponent as an advocate of spending and higher taxes, while presenting himself as pragmatic, willing to reach across the aisle and sometimes at odds with Mr. Bush. source

Several years after his terrorist bombings, Bill Ayers received his professorship in the field of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He became involved in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), an 'educational' directive to radicalize American school children by reteaching them a revisionist version of American history (wherein Ayers attributes our government as being unjust, racist and imperialist), he was able to secure a $50 million grant. To administer these grant monies, Barack Hussein Obama was hired (Obama and Ayers knew each other at this time). These funds were increased to a final total of over $100 million which were, over a five year period, distributed by Obama to radical, left-wing extremist groups, such as ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). ACORN is a marxist organization promoting "affirmative action" lending practices by pressuring banks to make sub-prime loans to unqualified recipients under the guise of "fair housing". They have been involved in many cases of voter fraud, as well. Principally, however, groups such as ACORN were instrumental in fighting to require mortgage lenders (like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) to push the envelope of irrational lending practices, and threats of legal action for "redlining" played an important role in their success, unjustly promoting a perception of racism.
In conjunction with a well documented history of predominantly democratic senators and house representatives protecting both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with congressional support (including Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Charles Schumer and Barack Hussein Obama), an assurance of government backing were these institutions to need help, has led America today to the edge of financial chaos. Aside from Dodd, Obama received more monies for campaign support (over $126,000) from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than did any other member of Congress! Furthermore, it would seem appropriate at this point to question how it is that psyeudo-governmental agencies are legally able to in the first place extend finances as donations to political candidates? People need to be aware that it was in fact John McCain who sought to impose increased regulation on the mortgage lending industry, sponsoring a bill to do so in 2005. That bill was killed by democrats, the most outspoken of which was Barney Frank (D-MA, Democratic House Financial Services Committee Chair). Recently, it was revealed that Frank had a gay-lover whom he referred to as his "spouse" that was an executive for Fannie Mae.
So, is it any surprise that, as part of the first "bailout" package that democrats in the House of Representatives brought forward sought to include a slush fund for ACORN? Were that initial House bill to have passed with republican support, then a provision to move 20% of all profits from the bailout into a "housing trust fund" (a fund which the democrats have traditionally used to infuse monies into political-action groups such as ACORN) would have carried.
