MARIAH CAREY AND NICK CANNON ENGAGED?!

Mariah Carey sparked engagement rumors after she appeared on the red carpet for the premiere for her movie Tennessee.  There was buzz that Mariah Carey was dating Nick Cannon. But we thought okay...that's the rumor but Nick Cannon couldn't handle Mariah. Now, Access Hollywood is confirming the engagement. Our theory is that it was a smart move for Mariah to wear the engagement ring to the Tribeca Film festival because no one is talking about her movie or talking about having "Glitter" flashbacks. We're covering the 2008 Tribeca Film festival. Tennessee can be described as a Mariah Carey vanity project where she plays an aspiring country music singer who embarks on a road trip to Nashville after she leaves her husband. We love Mariah Carey as a singer but Mariah isn't an actress that we would predict can make the jump to being a movie star like Jennifer Lopez. Mariah played an opera singer in The Bachelor. She played a pop star in Glitter and portrays a country singer in her latest role in the movie Tennessee.  Nick Cannon was formerly engaged to beautiful Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Selita Ebanks. It seems that times are tight on Nick in the bling department because Perez Hilton uncovered that Nick Cannon recycled his engagement ring from Selita Ebanks and gave it to Mariah Carey. Dang!! Mariah Carey's got second hand ring bling!  A source close to Cannon's ex-fiance, Selita, confirms exclusively to PerezHilton.com, "That IS the same ring."  The number one diva is probably not gonna be too happy that her rock is losing some of it's shine.

It appears Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are ready to make beautiful music together. A source close to Mariah has confirmed to Access Hollywood that the music diva is engaged to Nick Cannon. Reps for both singers were unavailable for comment. The couple sent the rumor mill into overdrive when 38-year-old Mariah (with Nick on her arm) was seen sporting a dazzling new piece of bling on her ring finger at the after party for her Tribeca film, “Tennessee,” in New York. When asked at the party what he loved about Mariah, 27-year-old Nick gave a one-word answer. “Everything,” he told People. Up until recently, Mariah had been romantically linked to music executive Mark Sudack. However, she never confirmed the romance. Mariah was previously married to record executive Tommy Mottola from 1993 – 1998. Nick was previously engaged to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks in 2007. However, the couple called off the engagement that same year. source
