AALIYAH COVERS FADER MAGAZINE ANNUAL ICON ISSUE
Aaliyah graces the June 2008 issue of Fader magazine’s Annual Icon Issue. The beautiful singer and actress Aaliyah was tragically killed in a 2001 plane crash after a Hype Williams directed music video shoot in the Bahamas. It was later uncovered that the pilot of the plane had a prior cocaine arrest and the airplane was overloaded. source
Honestly, we never really liked her final music video for the song "Rock The Boat" and felt it could have been shot on a sound stage with blue/green screen in the states but it wasn't worth her dying for the disappointing end result. We do enjoy Aaliyah's "More Than a Woman" music video and find it to have better special effects and visuals while showcasing Aaliyah's dancing skills.
The 22-year-old singer and actress, born Aaliyah Haughton, was one of nine people aboard a twin-engine plane that crashed seconds after taking off from the Bahamas, according to Grand Bahama police superintendent Basil Rahming. All nine died.
Aaliyah was in the Bahamas shooting a video, Minister of Tourism Tommy Turnquest told the Associated Press.
She died instantly when the plane, a Cessna 402B, exploded on
impact just 200 feet beyond the end of a runway at Marsh Harbour
International Airport on Abaco Island at 6:45 p.m., Rahming said. The
craft, which was bound for Opa-Locka Airport, just northwest of Miami,
apparently suffered engine failure upon liftoff, he said. source

Check out this MTV Diary video we found with Nick Cannon presenting an award to Aaliyah while in drag. Here is what they said in the upcoming issue:
AALIYAH MISS YOU TRIBUTE MUSIC VIDEO
Missy Elliott “We was gonna save the world. We was gonna change music every chance we got. We was gonna always be family. Forever.”
Mark Ronson “If it wasn’t for Aaliyah being the face and voice of [Missy Elliott and Timbaland’s] sound they might have never got to where they did. They were presenting their sort of brilliant but challenging breakthrough music through this beautiful young girl who could sing it perfectly.”
Kidada Jones “I think about her all the time…Anytime she’s brought up or her music comes on the radio, it’s sweet, but it definitely sounds like she found a niche before it was here. If you listen to her music it’s so relevant today, but we had it so long ago.”
Damon Dash “She was already a fashion icon, she was getting into movies, she had already planted that seed. If she was alive today she would be so relevant. I see little bits of her everywhere I look, in a lot of artists.”
Jomo Hankerson “I think a lot of that mysteriousness they talk about was just what she was. She seemed like she came here already grown up, from the beginning.”
