High School Musical (HSM) star Vanessa Hudgens is featured in the new February 2008 issue of Seventeen magazine. The 19 year-old actress talks about her new album and how her HSM co-star & boyfriend teen heartthrob, Zac Efron makes her laugh. In the interview, Vanessa comes clean about her nude photos scandal and how traumatic it was when explicit naked pictures she shot surfaced on the net. Hudgens says the pictures were taken for someone she was dating and hit the internet while she was in Australia.
“I’m much better now. But truthfully I don’t like talking about it,” Hudgens told the magazine. “It was very traumatic, and I am extremely upset it happened. I hope all my fans can learn from my mistake and make smart decisions. But I wouldn’t have been able to get through it if it wasn’t for my family, friends and fans, who supported me all along the way.” [SOURCE]
Although she was able to avoid some of the press attention in Australia, it was still hard for her to deal with the scandal. Vanessa made the tough decision to tell her mother. And she realized that her parents were very understanding.
“I was just open with her, and she was just so cute. She was like, ‘Well everyone can be naked if they want to,’” Vanessa recounted. “My parents are very supportive of me. And they know I’m a teenager, and yes, kids do stupid things sometimes.
Vanessa Anne Hudgens says she learned a valuable lesson from the scandal and tries to give advice to other young women.
"With the Internet these days, you don’t have a personal life. Nothing is private. Everyone knows everything, and they can find out everything about you.
You’re not as safe as you think you are, and you have to be aware of the people you’re around.I tell girls all the time: ‘Don’t post your private business for the world to see!’” she said. “You just have to be careful.” Something bad can happen from [posting things online]—it usually does. You just have to be careful. I had MySpace and Facebook profiles a long time ago, but I shut them down as quickly as I could." [SOURCE]
The National Enquirer was the first publication to report the photo's existence. TMZ.com later confirmed that the photos were real through Hudgen's rep. A source close to People Magazine told them that the High School Musical actress once sent risqué photos of herself to Nickelodeon star Drake Bell.
In a statement Hudgens apologized for the pictures and says she was "embarrassed over the situation and regret[s] having ever taken these photos."
The pictures, including one nude photo, surfaced on the Web prompting her rep to issue a statement saying that the shot "was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."
After the scandal broke, rumors lingered that Vanessa would not be included in a new HSM installment. But the Disney Channel continued their negotiations with the High School Musical cast, including Hudgens, who they decided to keep on board for the third installment of the movie series. "Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment," Disney said in a statement. "We hope she's learned a valuable lesson." [SOURCE]
Vanessa Hudgens seems to have learned a lesson from the naked pics scandal. We hope that Disney star, Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana learns a valuable lesson too. 15 year-old teen idol, Miley Cyrus, had controversial pics hit the net and everyone was wondering if she was going to be the next Lohan or Britney Spears. LiLo and BritBrit were both former Disney kids. Our advice is that Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus should have watched the PSA Everyone Knows Your Name before their controversial pics surfaced on the net.
